Our Comprehensive Eye and Vision Examinations include a thorough eye health evaluation with state-of-the-art equipment.

Using the biomicroscope [top left photo] we get a greatly magnified view of the front of the eye - the part(s) you see when you look in the mirror, only we see all of the fine details. We evaluate the health of the EYELIDS & LASHES, CORNEA (front of the eye where a contact lens rests, CONJUNCTIVA (the clear-ish tissue with blood vessels that covers the white part of the eye, and the IRIS ('colored' ring inside the eye).

Dilation of the PUPIL (the "black window" in the middle of the IRIS) allows us to see up to 100% of the inside of the eye. We assess the health of the RETINA (which absorbs the light that enters the eye), the OPTIC NERVE (which sends the information back to the brain), BLOOD VESSELS, and the LENS of the eye.

We can detect evidence of OCULAR (of the eye) diseases and conditions such as INFECTIONS, DRY EYE DISEASE, ALLERGIC CONJUNCTIVITIS, CATARACTS, GLAUCOMA, MACULAR DEGENERATION, RETINAL DETACHMENTS, and more.

We are also able to see manifestations of SYSTEMIC (whole body) diseases and conditions such as DIABETES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, HIGH CHOLESTEROL, RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS, and many others.

We have the ability to photographically document evidence [middle left photo] of the above conditions for the purposes of 1) confirming or ruling out a possible diagnosis, 2) more accurately assessing any possible changes over time, and 3) improved patient education [bottom left photo].
